Chickasaw origin
Basheli means ‘clear’ in the Chickasaw language, specifically in terms of weather. Taryn was drawn to this meaning because we all hope for clear weather and yet we know that the storms will come as well. Weather is the most reliable example of constant change in our lives. Our planning must prepare our teams for this complexity, empower them to make choices in alignment with your organization’s beliefs, and implement daily behaviors that support your desired culture.
Taryn utilizes a systems-based approach to facilitate coherence across your organization. She believes that to solve our most challenging problems we must create preferred futures that don’t currently exist. She brings decades of experience working with organizations from small nonprofits to multi-million-dollar companies. Taryn guides teams through active listening, intentional observations, and insightful questioning to form strategic connections that will ensure that you reach your goals.
Taryn became an architect because of the emotions a spatial environment can evoke. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University. After designing environments across building types, she found her passion in educational facility design because of the potential long-term positive impact. Incorporating developmental brain research and changes in pedagogy into the design process became Taryn’s specialty. Taryn has led dozens of transformational visioning processes, and then designed new environments to support this future learning. Inspired by the challenges of implementing and sustaining change, Taryn completed a Masters in Organizational Psychology and Change Leadership from Columbia University. She then developed a new service and grew a multi-disciplinary team to support school systems in transforming teaching and learning to meet each individual learner’s needs. She recently founded Basheli Consulting and Basheli Transitions to assist organizations and individuals live their values daily.
Kurt Lewin, grandfather of social psychology, proposed that human Behavior is a Function of People in their Environments. As a practicing architect, with decades of experience working with academic institutions and non-profits, Taryn has seen the explicit value of aligning your people, the organizational environment, and the built environment to achieve your desired outcomes.
